MEDIATION FEES

Mediation is quicker and cheaper than going to court. Mediation usually greatly reduces legal costs, which can be in the range of £5,000 to £10,000 if you resolve disputes through a court process. We do not charge for the time taken for the mediator to prepare for your session or for sending emails or for any phone calls.

Our mediation service is amongst the most cost-effective options available. We are also one of the few providers in the UK to be qualified to provide mediation funded by Legal Aid. If you are eligible mediation is completely FREE for you. Our fully accredited and professional family mediators provide tailor-made solutions to help families resolve their disputes during separation and divorce and within care proceedings. We make time to help you work it out.

Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMs) are attended separately. In this meeting, we will give you information about mediation and will ask you some questions so we can work out together whether mediation is suitable for you.  Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process. There is no pressure on you to proceed if you don’t wish to.

LEGAL AID

Legal Aid is available for family mediation. If you are eligible mediation is completely FREE for you. The mediator will assess your eligibility before proceeding and if you are not eligible you do not have to proceed with the meeting if you do not want to.

If the other party is eligible for Legal Aid, the Legal Aid Agency will pay for the MIAM for both of you.  If you are eligible for Legal Aid, you will also be eligible for the Help with Mediation scheme, which provides for some free legal advice alongside mediation. We can tell you more about this at your initial meeting.
